What is TMCA Clinic

What you see – If you wish to experience the goodness of Tibetan and Chinese medicines in Pune, Dr. Passang’s clinic is the one for you. With a doctorate degree in traditional ancient medicine of China and Tibet, Dr. Passang has tried to unite both the disciplines with the administration of herbal medicine with acupuncture.
Enter the clinic but without footwear for it is mandatory to remove your shoes to maintain hygiene here. As we sat and browsed through the books we couldn’t help noticing the numerous pictures of human anatomy pasted all over the walls of the waiting room. It was a biology class all over again for us. There are also articles educating you about medicinal practices.
The consulting room has a wall hanging of Buddha in red, along with small Buddha statues all over giving a very spiritualistic outlook. We also saw a letter from Dalai Lama, wishing Dr. Passang health and luck and motivating him to have confidence in himself for all his future endeavors. Dr. Passang has two separate rooms where the treatment sessions take place.
What you get – The combination of traditional Tibetan and Chinese herbal medicine and Acupuncture along with Moxa, cupping and Chiropractic work is used to heal body pains, stiffness, acute and chronic problems (apparently even cancer), face and skin problems of all types, physical and mental emotional problems, weight loss and gain. They even have sessions to help quit smoking and drinking.
Moxa treatment which is also called as maxibustion is a traditional Tibetan medical technique that involves the burning of mugwort (a weedy plant) over the required acupuncture points of the patient. It is believed that this helps in strengthening the blood circulation and Qi (spiritual energy) and maintaining health.
They also use the method of cupping here. It takes care of blockage of blood and phlegm. This helps to maintain a better flow of blood movement which ultimately takes care of chronic imbalances. It heals spondylitis, blood pressure, water retention etc. For people with bone problems like hernia etc, chiropractic work is suggested to help strengthen and align them.
Our verdict – Dr. Passang is known in India and Europe for promoting acupuncture and is on the board of many health councils. Along with an American psychiatrist he travels all over the world to incorporate acupuncture in solving problems of the emotionally affected. This ancient form of healing is said to have no side effects. Prior appointments are necessary here. Once in a year they also offer free Moxa treatments.

Dr.Passang Thopchen

Dr. Passang Thopchen – B.T.M.S., D.T.C.M., M.D.

Dr. Passang Thopchen is third lineage of Namwed Kegal Tsang. Namwed Kegal who ruled Song choo area in east Tibet. He practices a unique fusion of both disciplines and so is able to complement the administration of herbal medicine with acupuncture. He is totally dedicated to the ancient medical sciences and is constantly engaged in research.

Tibetan medicine takes the whole person into account considering all aspects: lifestyle, diet, morality, and most important, the emotions. If unbalanced, these weaken the immune system and so are perceived as being the root cause of all sickness. Prevention is better then cures. Doctor Passang cures through diet, moral behaviour, medicines and therapy (internal and external therapy) to treat the patient.

Dr. Passang has been practicing on the international community in Dharamsala and Pune, India. He has treated more then 100.000 patients in that time, and so has gained unprecedented insights into the national emotional characteristics he has encountered.

Treatment always involves the patients in their own recovery. Dr. Passang offers counseling and visualization as techniques to balance the mind, by changing the diet, morality. He has been successful in treating a wide spectrum of ailments, from drug addiction to the common cold. Perhaps it is because he comes from a medical back-ground (his mother is a qualified western medical doctor, she also used acupuncture.) But Dr. Passang accesses his ancestral intuition in both diagnosis and treatment. He conducts acupuncture and Tibetan medicine course. He never fails to hit his target and has had invariably positive feedback.

Dr. Passang is a member of the Tibetan medical society of Tibet, the acupuncture TCM of China, and India academy of acupuncture science (I A Ac Sc) of India. He has attended international conferences in Beijing, New Delhi and Rome.
